Comparison

Wrap-IT vs Snipe-IT

Snipe-IT is a well-established open-source IT asset management tool. Wrap-IT covers the same asset register, then extends it into a full IT operations workspace — helpdesk, SLA tracking, endpoint monitoring, and procurement — with multi-tenancy built in. Here is how the two compare.

Where Snipe-IT is the better fit

If you want to run everything on your own infrastructure, keep full control of the database, and only need an asset register with check-in and check-out, Snipe-IT is a proven, free option. It is open source, so you can modify it, and there is no vendor in the loop. The trade-off is that you own the hosting, upgrades, backups, and security patching, and you will need separate tools for ticketing and monitoring.

Where Wrap-IT is the better fit

Most IT teams do not just track assets — they also take tickets about those assets, chase SLAs, watch device health, and buy replacements. Wrap-IT keeps all of that in one place, so a ticket, the asset it concerns, its warranty status, its Intune compliance state, and the purchase request to replace it are linked records rather than four disconnected systems.

  • Integrated SLA tracking — response and resolution timers per priority, visible on every ticket and dashboard.
  • True multi-tenancy — row-level isolation per organization, so MSPs and holding groups can run several client workspaces from one login.
  • Endpoint monitoring — device health, threats, and compliance synced from Microsoft Intune, with alerts that can open tickets automatically.
  • Procure-to-pay — RFQs, vendor quotes, budget approval, purchase orders, goods received notes, and 3-way invoice matching.
  • AI throughout — ticket summaries, resolution suggestions, duplicate detection, and a copilot that answers questions across your data.

Migrating from Snipe-IT

Wrap-IT imports inventory and asset records from CSV, which is the format Snipe-IT exports. Bring across your asset tags, serial numbers, models, purchase dates, and warranty end dates, then assign each asset to an employee inside Wrap-IT. Historic check-in and check-out records can be kept in your Snipe-IT export for reference while lifecycle history builds up in Wrap-IT.
